Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert has insisted that key duo Fabian Delph and Ron Vlaar will not be sold by the club in the January transfer window, the Birmingham
Both players have been heavily linked with moves away from the West Midlands club, particularly as their contracts are set to run out at the end of the season and neither player appears any closer to agreeing a new deal.
Captain Vlaar, who has been at Villa since the summer of 2012, has been constantly rumoured to be a target for Manchester United, with their manager Louis van Gaal having brought the best out of him during the World Cup in Brazil.
Liverpool and Tottenham are among the clubs said to be in the race to sign Delph, whose profile has risen steadily since moving from Leeds United in 2009, earning his first England international cap in September.
But Lambert is adamant that both players will still be at Villa beyond January. He said: “They’re not going anywhere. It’s my say and they’ll not go anywhere in January.”
