Everton 0-1 FK Krasnodar: Laborde goal ends Everton’s unbeaten run in the Europa League

A young Everton side fell short in their last Europa League group game against Russian club Krasnodar, with goalkeeper Joel Robles making a costly error, reports BBC Sport.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez said ahead of the clash that he will field a selection of youth players against Krasnodar, as his side had already qualified as group winners in the competition.

He was true to his word, with the likes of Luke Garbutt, Conor McAleny, Tyias Browning, Kieran Dowell, Ryan Ledson, Chris Long and Gethin Jones all making appearances.

But such a young side were slow to start, and were eventually punished with Ricardo Laborde putting the away side ahead after half an hour, taking advantage of poor positioning by Everton ’keeper Joel Robles.

Everton somewhat match their Russian opponents, but ultimately weren’t good enough to force their way back into the game.
