Marouane Fellaini believes Manchester United have to focus on their own form and not look at the gap to Premier League leaders Chelsea, the
United recorded a fourth straight win in beating Stoke City on Tuesday but with Chelsea victorious over Tottenham Hotspur, remain 11 points adrift of the London club. Fellaini wants United to be in the title mix but not preoccupied with the Blues.
“I think we wait for a mistake but we have to look for us, we have to take it game by game and we will see after,” the Belgium international said. “After Boxing Day we have a lot of games and we have to keep winning. Southampton, as well, they are better in the table than us and we’ll see on Monday.”
Fellaini, a signing made by Louis van Gaal’s predecessor David Moyes, added that the players are more used to the Dutch manager than they were at the start of the season and suggested that is part of the reason for the up-turn in form. “We know each other a lot better,” the former Everton midfielder confirmed. “We know the manager and the staff so we know the philosophy of the manager. We train hard as well so we have to continue like that.”
The 27-year-old scored against the Potters, his second United goal of the season and second in the 30 appearances of his United career, having gone goalless in his first year at Old Trafford.
