Manchester City have welcomed back to training David Silva and Vincent Kompany ahead of the crunch Champions League game against Roma, ESPN
Kompany and Silva were joined in training by Fernandinho and Stevan Jovetic, who sat out the weekend win over Everton, and the four players could be involved in City’s game against the Serie A side on Wednesday.
City need a positive result against Roma to prolong their involvement in the Champions League but will be without Sergio Aguero, who was injured against the Toffees. Manager Manuel Pellegrini has already confirmed the Argentine will be absent for the contest.
Kompany has missed City’s games against Everton and Sunderland with a hamstring injury while Silva has been out since October, having picked up a knee injury against Newcastle in October.
It was suggested that Silva could have been involved against Everton but the Spain international was held back.
City have Yaya Toure out through suspension after the Ivory Coast midfielder was given a three-match ban for his dismissal against CSKA Moscow, but Fernandinho is available having served his one-match punishment.
Pellegrini’s team are bottom of Group E with five points from as many games, the same tally as CSKA and Roma, with Bayern having qualified as group winners with 12 points. City as it stands do have a better goal difference than their qualification rivals.
