Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel struck deep into second-half injury time to earn the hosts a point at Anfield against a second-best Arsenal side, reports BBC
Liverpool were by far the dominant side at Anfield, but they were guilty of slack finishing and even worse defending. They did take the lead minutes before the break, however, through the always-threatening Philippe Coutinho.
The trick Brazilian hit a trademark low effort from the edge of the box, that went in via the post to put Liverpool deservedly 1-0 up approaching half-time. But Brendan Rodgers’ side conceded almost immediately from a Mathieu Debuchy header, so both sides went into the break level.
Arsenal then took the lead through Olivier Giroud following a breakaway goal after the hour mark, but Liverpool weren’t to be denied.
Martin Skrtel rose high from a corner late on and made no mistake with a fierce bullet header hard and low into the corner to earn the Reds a point.
