Liverpool could turn to AVB if Rodgers is sacked

The Daily Express has claimed that should Liverpool chose to sack under fire Brendan Rodgers, ex Chelsea and Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas could be the man they turn to.

Liverpool have been less than impressive this season and currently find themselves in ninth position – 15 points behind leaders Chelsea having already lost six games so far.

Rodgers is coming under increasing pressure as he continues to fail to find the winning formula so thoroughly enjoyed last term.

The loss of Luis Suarez to Barcelona, the huge influx of players and continued injury to Daniel Sturridge has meant the Reds have been incredibly lacklustre.

It is thought that while Rodgers has been told he has the backing of Liverpool’s hierarchy, they could soon lose patience with their boss.

Owners Fenway Sports Group want to see continued success at Anfield and that means regular qualification to the Champions League.

Borussia Dortmund man Jurgen Klopp has been heavily linked to a move to the Premier League but having seemingly ruled himself out of one in the near future, it is AVB who has been identified as another target.

The Portuguese man is piecing his reputation back together in Russia with Zenit St Petersburg and is on course to win the Russian title in his first full season at the club.
