Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers admits Liverpool weren’t good enough following Champions League exit

After Liverpool were eliminated from the Champions League at the hands of Basel, manager Brendan Rodgers admits the Reds needed to do much better, reports BBC Sport.

“We have to be better in our performance level. We haven’t been good enough over the course of qualification. We can’t have any excuses (as there were) enough games to get enough points. But you have to remember where we have come from. We have come a long way in a short time. When you don’t qualify, everyone gets looked at,” he said.

Liverpool drew 1-1 against Basel at Anfield, which sealed their fate in the prestigious competition this season, and their performances on Tuesday was typical of what they have been displaying all through the European campaign. They will now be in the Europa League after finishing third in the Champions League group.
