Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers urges players to make history by beating Basel in the Champions League on Tuesday

Liverpool will make the last-16 of the Champions League if they win their last group game against Basel on Tuesday, and manager Brendan Rodgers wants his side to make history, reports BBC Sport.

Real Madrid have already topped Group B and are through into the next round without a hitch. FC Basel are currently second in the table, with six points from five games. Liverpool are two points adrift of the Swiss club, and will overtake them if they beat them tomorrow evening.

“It will be a great night and it is up to us to get the job done. It is an opportunity for the players to qualify and make sure they write themselves into folklore. We would have taken this when the draw was made. We arrive into tomorrow night with great confidence that we can get the job done,” said Rodgers.
