Having made such an impact since joining the club on loan Manchester City midfielder Frank Lampard’s future will be decided in the ‘next few days’ says Manuel Pellegrini, the BBC
The former Chelsea legend left the Premier League to join City’s brand new MLS franchise New York City – only to arrive back at the Etihad on loan until the end of 2014 with the new MLS season not starting until 2015.
However such is the impression and impact made by the 36-year-old that there have been calls by fans to keep the former England international at the club longer, a sentiment being echoed by the club.
Pellegrini said: “I repeat, Frank is very important for our team so I hope he will stay here.
“I hope Frank’s situation will be resolved in the next days. I said in the beginning it will be during December we are going to have the last decision.”
Lampard has bagged six goals in 15 appearances for City including some very important goals –scoring against former club Chelsea to equalise at the death and more recently the winner against struggling Leicester City.
Yaya Toure is set to leave for the African Cup of nations in January and it could prove shrewd business if City can pull off any deal to keep the veteran midfielder at the club for longer.
It could be a hard task however, with MLS preseason to being in January ahead of their big kick off in March.
