Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure scored from the spot as the Sky blues cut their deficit in half to league leaders Chelsea, reports BBC
Everton defender Phil Jagielka gave away a penalty in the first-half for a foul on City midfielder James Milner. Yaya Toure made no mistake from 12 yards to put the defending champions ahead. Manuel Pellegrini’s side were on top, but far from their best.
Goalkeeper Joe Hart was tested, however, with Everton striker Romelu Lukaku volleying a fierce effort that the English international tipped past the post.
Manchester City had a good opportunity through youngster Jose Pozo, following James Milner putting in a low cross for the substitute, but Pozo’s effort failed to beat Tim Howard in the Everton goal.
The Toffees didn’t have too many chances during the game, and Manchester City ran out worthy winners to cut Chelsea’s lead at the summit.
