Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini feels his side a deserving of more credit following Champions League turnaround

After seeing past AS Roma at the Stadio Olimpico to book their place in the last-16 of the Champions League, Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini believes the side deserve more praise, reports BBC Sport.

“This team deserves a little bit more credit than the press gives us. Trust has been key. I had a lot of trust in what we could do. It’s difficult without (Vincent) Kompany, (Yaya) Toure, (David) Silva, without (Sergio) Aguero. Before the game, I told the players playing the way we have been in the last few weeks, we could win and we did,” said the Chilean.

Manchester City’s turnaround has been impressive. They beat Bayern Munich with a late flurry of goals from hat-trick hero Sergio Aguero, before beat Roma at the Olimpico, which only two sides have done since May 2013. They are now in the last-16, despite being on the brink of elimination last month.
