Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini has given a progress report of injured captain Vincent Kompany, suggesting the Belgian is doing well in his recovery, reports ITV
The 28-year-old defender has been ever present with the Sky Blues this season, but missed their midweek victory against Sunderland with an alleged hamstring injury. His recovery date is unknown, but Pellegrini has allayed fears of a lengthy layout.
“Vincent is improving and maybe it is not such a serious injury as we thought at the beginning – but he needs to see the whole week and we will see what happens with him,” said the Chilean coach.
City were forced to play Martin Demichelis and Dedryck Boyata at the heart of the defence against Sunderland due to Kompany’s absence, but the Belgian should be back soon.
