Manchester United stretched their winning run to four games in the Premier League, with rearguard action protecting their lead over Stoke, reports BBC
Marouane Fellaini scored midway in the first-half to give United the lead. The former Everton midfielder headed home a cross from Ander Herrera to double his tally for the Red Devils.
But minutes before half-time, Stoke struck back. Midfielder Steven N’Zonzi hit a low effort past David De Gea in the United goal to level the tie at Old Trafford.
After the break, Spanish playmaker Juan Mata scored a free-kick to put Manchester United back into the lead on the hour mark. From then on, the Red Devils had to be at their best defensively to keep out the Potters.
They held on for the win, which has put them just two points behind fierce rivals Manchester City in the table.
