Manchester United 3-0 Liverpool: United beats fierce rivals to seal sixth consecutive league win

Goals from Wayne Rooney, Juan Mata and Robin Van Persie helped Manchester United to a 3-0 win against Liverpool at Old Trafford, with goalkeeper David De Gea’s heroics also pivotal to the win, reports BBC Sport.

The home side took the lead after 10 minutes through Wayne Rooney. Antonio Valencia but his mate down the right-hand side, before cutting a ball inside to the onrushing Rooney, who side-footed an effort past Brad Jones in the Liverpool goal.

Minutes before half-time, Juan Mata doubled the scoring with a close range header from a Robin Van Persie flick-on, but replays showed the Spaniard was offside when Van Persie headed the aerial ball to him.

After the break, Robin Van Persie finished off a move that saw United take all three points comfortably in the end, leaving Liverpool to rue a host of missed opportunities.
