Manager Louis Van Gaal revealed the reason behind a last-minute change in the defence ahead of their Liverpool meeting, that saw Phil Jones come into the backline this afternoon, reports BBC
The summer-signing, 24, is reported to have picked up an injury in training, which led Phil Jones to take his place in the defence, while midfielder Michael Carrick was alongside his fellow Englishman in a three-man backline.
“It happened yesterday so we will have to wait and see. I don’t think it’s healthy but I am not a doctor. Two or three weeks ago there was a misunderstanding here so it’s better to say nothing about the injury,” said Van Gaal.
Despite the injury woes, United earned a 3-0 win against Liverpool this weekend with a makeshift backline, to make it six consecutive league wins.
