Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has insisted that he is not eyeing the chance to break records and that his main focus is helping the club win the Premier League title, Sky
The Blues are currently top of the table with an unbeaten record after 14 games, of which 11 have resulted in victory. Mourinho already holds the record for the most points and the most wins in a Premier League campaign as well as the fewest goals conceded; achieved during his first spell in charge of Chelsea in the 2004-05 season.
However, there is talk of the club potentially emulating the achievements of Arsenal in 2003-04 and going an entire season undefeated, but ahead of the visit to Newcastle United’s St. James’ Park – a venue at which he has never tasted victory – Mourinho was adamant that records do not concern him.
He said: “I’m not looking for records. I’m looking for points – victories and points – and if it’s possible at the end of the season, title. I’m not looking for records. I just want to win the next match and that’s all.
“I wouldn’t know about the record if you hadn’t told me about it 20 times. The record I want is to win the Premier League three times with this club. That’s the only record I want. The only thing that matters for me in the Premier League is that I won the title twice. That’s all that’s important for me.’
