Ron Vlaar disillusioned with question marks over his future at Aston Villa

Aston Villa defender Ron Vlaar has dropped the biggest hint of wanting to leave when the January transfer window opens, suggesting he’d consider offers despite the club wanting to keep him until the summer, reports the Express.

“These are troubled times at Villa. The manager has said he won’t let me leave during the season but I don’t know what will happen if clubs come in for me,” said the Dutchman.

Vlaar, 29, joined Aston Villa from Dutch Eredivisie back in 2012, and has been a regular at the heart of the defence. He’s currently sidelined with injury, but performed admirably in this summer for the Netherlands national team in the 2014 World Cup that led to growing interest from the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal.

As he is also in the last year of his contract, his agent is looking to secure a move to a side likely to be in the top Europe competition for the start of next season, which means there’s little chance of him signing a new deal with Aston Villa. His recent revelation rules out a stay even more.
