Song refuses to rule out permanent West Ham stay

On loan midfielder Alex Song has refused to rule out making his temporary switch to West Ham a permanent one, the Daily Mail is reporting.

Song has established himself as a firm fan favourite already following his surprise season long loan move from Spanish giants Barcelona at the start of the season.

The holding midfielder has played a crucial part in his club’s super start to the season that sees them sit third in the table after their 3-1 win over Swansea at the weekend.

Sources close to the Cameroon international say that he is ‘very happy’ at the club and there is a chance that he will stay with the Hammers for longer.

The 27-year-old is known to want to remain in England after he struggled to hold a first team place down at Barcelona but he wants to play Champions League football.

A host of top clubs will be vying for his signature but his future remains unclear, and boss Sam Allardyce will have to wait until the end of the season to find out.

Song was just one of eight incredibly successful signings at the start of the season – joining Diafra Sakho, Carl Jenkinson, Aaron Cresswell, Diego Poyet, Enner Valencia, Cheikhou Kouyate and Mauro Zarate at Upton Park.
