Southampton were somewhat dominated in the latter stages of their meeting against Chelsea, but held on to secure a well-earned point, reports BBC
The hosts started strongly against Chelsea, and took the lead following a mistake from John Terry. The Blues’ centre-back failed in his attempt to play an offside trap, and Southampton forward Saido Mane capitalised, before lifting the ball over the onrushing Thibaut Courtois.
Before the break, a moment of magic from the impressive Eden Hazard saw Chelsea level the game. The Belgian cut inside from the left flank and fired a low drive past the Saints’ ‘keeper.
The second-half was largely one way traffic, with Chelsea camped out in Southampton’s half looking to find a breakthrough. But the hosts were resilient in the backline and held firm to earn a point.
