After losing three players to injury in the 1-0 defeat to Arsenal, Southampton Ronald Koeman will spend on new additions in the January transfer window, reports BBC
“A lot of midfielders are injured and that creates a lot of problems. I will speak to the board about what we need and what we would like to do. This is the hardest league. You have to be 100% and that’s difficult for us because we need everybody to be fit and we don’t have the numbers and players that the big teams have. It’s difficult,” said the Saints boss.
Southampton lost Jack Cork, Toby Alderweireld in the Arsenal clash, while Morgan Schneiderlin picked up an injury in the previous 3-0 defeat to Manchester City. With Steven Davis having been on the treatment table the last month too – albeit returning against Arsenal – Saints have few fully fit options in the midfield, so shopping in January is their only option to ensure they remain in the top-six of the table.
