Strained PSG relationship could see Arsenal target Cavani available

The continually strained relationship between Edison Cavani and Paris Saint Germain manager Laurent Blanc could see the striker free to leave in January, the Daily Express is reporting, and Arsenal are interested.

Cavani and Blanc have never seen eye to eye with the Uruguayan played out of position because of the manager’s preference of Zlatan Ibrahimovich as his central striker.

It was thought the pair had put aside their differences at the start of the season but in recent days it has surfaced that a healthy relationship is far from the truth.

Blanc had said if his need to be ‘more ruthless’ in his decision making and French media have seen that as a signal for Cavani’s departure.

Manchester United and Liverpool are thought to hold interest but it is Arsenal who are in pole position to make an offer to the striker – who could cost as much as £50m.

While Arsenal have the financial backing to make such a splash in the transfer market this news may not be welcomed by all those who follow the Emirates club.

There have been several injury crisis’ at the club concerning defenders and midfielders and this is the January business fans have been crying out for following their manager’s failings over the summer to address their problem areas.
