West Ham midfielder Stewart Downing scored a first-half equaliser as the Londoners took a share of the spoils away to Sunderland, reports BBC
Sunderland took the lead after 20 minutes through Jordi Gomez. West Ham defender James Tomkins gave away a penalty for a foul on Sunderland winger Adam Johnson, and the creative midfielder tucked away the penalty.
Minutes later, United found a leveller through Stewart Downing. The England midfielder was a standout performer for Sam Allardyce’s side, and a deflected effort by the former Aston Villa player drew the Hammers level.
A point is something both sides will have taken before kickoff, but Sunderland’s winless run has now stretched to six games. West Ham stay in the top-four of the Premier League.
