Swansea City have signed Benfica striker Nelson Oliveira on loan until the end of the season to cover for Wilfried Bony’s absence in the Africa Cup of Nation’s, reports BBC
“It was important to get another player to push along with Bafetimbi Gomis here during that period (Bony is away). That’s why I’ve brought Nelson in who is a very good player. I watched him a lot and am happy to have signed him,” said Monk.
Oliveira, 23, has been on the periphery with Benfica, spending the last four years on loan to a host of clubs. The 23-year-old has been loaned out to the likes of Rio Ave, Pacos Ferreira, Deportivo La Coruna, and Rennes. He will be at the Liberty Stadium now until the summer.
