Swansea set to sign highly-rated Matt Grimes from Exeter City

According to BBC Sport, Swansea are close to completing the signing of talented young midfielder Matt Grimes from Exeter City, in a deal costing around £1.75M.

The 19-year-old was named Exeter’s Player of the Season for 2013/14, and has been linked with a host of Premier League clubs in the last 12 months as a result of his fine form.

Grimes, an England U20 international, has scored four goals and made four assists for the Grecians this season, and impressed during City’s televised FA Cup clash against Warrington Town in November.

Swansea are said to have beaten many clubs to his signature, and he’s being tipped for a bright future, given his consistent standout performances in the Football League. He’s the Jacks second signing of the January window, with Benfica forward Nelson Oliveira joining on loan.
