Swansea to appeal Fabianski red card at West Ham

According to Sky Sports, Swansea City will appeal the red card given to Polish goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski in the 3-1 defeat against West Ham on the weekend.

“Swansea City can confirm that the club will be appealing the red card issued to goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski against West Ham on Sunday. The club officially informed the Football Association by today’s 1pm deadline. The FA will make a decision on the appeal ahead of Sunday’s Barclays Premier League clash with Spurs at the Liberty Stadium,” said a club statement on the website.

Referee Chris Foy sent off Fabianski for illegally denying West Ham striker Diafra Sakho a goalscoring opportunity in the 68th minute. The Pole seems to somewhat obstruct Sakho, while attempting to get out of the way as the former FC Metz man was running clear on goal, but Foy deemed the challenge as a red card offence.
