Tottenham scored three second-half goals to complete a rout against a misfiring Newcastle side to book their place in the Capital One Cup semi-final, reports BBC
The hosts took the lead in the 18th minute through midfielder Nabil Bentaleb, who capitalised on a goalkeeper error to steer in a corner. The game remained somewhat competitive leading up to the break, but Tottenham blew Newcastle away in the second-half.
Nacer Chadli scored a low effort from the edge of the area straight after the break to double Spurs’ lead. Two goals in five minutes from Harry Kane and Roberto Soldado sealed a comfortable win, and a place in the Capital One Cup semi-final against Sheffield United.
