Tottenham’s Jan Vertonghen hits 100 Spurs appearances in 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace

Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen reflects on making a century of appearances in the 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace on the weekend, reports the club’s official website.

“The supporters, manager and my team-mates have always supported me and I’m happy to play my 100th game. I hope I can go to 200 now.”

Signed from Ajax back in 2012, Vertonghen was once regarded as one of the best central defenders in the Premier League, but has seen his stock diminish somewhat due to inconsistency over the last 18 months.

Vertonghen was overlooked for the captaincy this season too, which mean thought would see him sold, but it does appear the Belgian has a part to play for Tottenham after making his 100th appearance.
