Louis van Gaal remains desperate to add fellow Dutchman Kevin Strootman to his Manchester United ranks but may still have to wait until the summer to land him, according to the Daily
Strootman was heavily courted by the new United boss over the summer despite carrying an injury that saw him miss the World Cup and side lined for a long eight months.
The midfielder finally put his injury hell behind him to make his comeback in Roma’s recent 3-0 win over Torino – coming on as a late substitute.
Former Holland boss Van Gaal is reportedly desperate to link up with his former international charge and it is believed the feeling is mutual for the player.
Scouts have kept continued tabs on the player for their new boss and were in the stands to see the 24-year-old return to first team action that night.
Roma are all too aware of the interest from the Premier League side and over the summer even slapped a huge £100m price tag on their star man in a bid to ward off the Red Devils.
This however does not look to have stopped Van Gaal’s relentless pursuit and they could land the Dutchman for around £30m over the summer with the players also wanting the switch.
