Victor Valdes reportedly set to sign for Manchester United in January

Reports from Squawka suggest former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes is to join Manchester United in January.

The 32-year-old left Barcelona this summer, but picked up a anterior cruciate knee ligament injury back in March, and is still recovering. Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal brought the Spaniard to Old Trafford to training with them, which saw rumours arise that the club were looking to replace Real Madrid-target David De Gea.

Spanish publication Fichajes have said Valdes has agreed a deal to join Manchester United in January, with manager and player having a good working relationship. The Red Devils have been building a strong squad to get back into Europe, signing the likes of Angel Di Maria and Radamel Falcao this summer. De Gea has been one of the league’s best goalkeepers, but there remains uncertainty around his future.
