Arsenal to meet Dortmund and discuss Gundogan deal

With his contract set to expire next summer Borussia Dortmund are preparing to sell Ilkay Gundogan while they can – and Arsenal are set to meet the club for talks over a deal – according to the Daily Express.

Gundogan has shown no signs of extending his current deal at the German club and it is thought Dortmund are ready to sell the German international while they can command a realistic fee for the player.

Reports last week claimed it was Manchester United who were in pole position to make a £16m move for the midfielder but it appears Gundogan is towards the top of Arsene Wenger’s transfer targets too.

And Arsenal are reported to be meeting with Dortmund this week to discuss a potential deal – with the midfielder having finally come back from a serious injury.

The 24-year-old has never been one to hide his ambitions to play in the Premier League and could represent a better deal for the North London club than other potential target William Carvalho.

Sporting Lisbon are said to be demanding £25m for his services and this could mean Wenger opts for Gundogan instead as he looks to bolster his holding midfield options.
