Arsenal’s Mathieu Debuchy has been sent to a shoulder specialist with fears he could be set for another long injury lay off this season, the Telegraph
Debuchy has already missed two months of this season with ankle ligament damage and only returned last month.
However following a clash during Sunday’s 3-0 win over Stoke with Marco Arnautovic the French full back was left in a heap on the side of the pitch and required lengthy treatment from medical staff, before being carried off on a stretcher.
Debuchy is now on his way to a specialist and will learn in the next 48 hours whether or not he will be out for up to three months after the dislocation sustained.
It was hoped after the game that surgery will not be required and the defender could return in a significantly shorter space of time – but no risks are being taken and Arsenal are seeking further opinion before venturing forward.
It is understood that Arnautovic will not face any retrospective punishment for the incident that appeared fairly innocuous at the time.
