Goals from Carlos Gil and Andreas Weimann sealed victory for the under-pressure Aston Villa in an even clash against Bournemouth at Villa Park, reports BBC
After the visitors edged a goalless first-half, it was Aston Villa who made them pay, with Carlos Gil scoring his first goal for the Midlands club. The former Spanish U21 international cut inside from the right flank, and curled an effort into the far corner from distance.
Andreas Weimann doubled Villa’s lead midway through the second-half, following a well-worked move that saw him convert Alan Hutton’s pullback from close range.
Bournemouth pulled a goal back late in the game through substitute Callum Wilson, but the home side held on to book their place in the FA Cup fifth round.
