Aston Villa striker Darren Bent set for loan move to Derby County

According to BBC Sport, Aston Villa striker Darren Bent will join Championship promotion-chasers Derby County on loan until the end of season.

Bent, 30, has just returned from a loan spell at Brighton & Hove Albion, but will move back out to Derby, as Villa deem the England international as surplus to requirements. His debut for County should come against Ipswich Town on the 10th of January.

His temporary spell went okay with the Seagulls this season, with Bent scoring two goals in five games, but he will be looking to put himself in the shop window as his deal is up in the summer. With Derby chasing promotion, they would be an attractive permanent destination for Bent, and he will be a free agent at the end of the season.
