Aston Villa’s Fabian Delph targeting Champions League football following contract extension

Aston Villa midfielder Fabian Delph has said he would like to see the Midlands club in the Champions League by the team his lengthy contract is up, reports ITV Football.

The England international recently ended speculation about his future by committing to a four-and-a-half year deal to stay at Villa Park. He’s expected to become the club captain in due course too, and revealed his objectives in the next four to five years he’s at the club, while admitting he owed the club some loyalty after they stood by him.

It’s about repaying the faith of the chairman and the fans. You can’t do anything from the treatment table but once I got fit and got a run of games it was honestly all about repaying them. I don’t see why playing in the Champions League for Villa isn’t possible by the end of my contract. I will be 30 then,” he said.
