Mario Balotelli’s agent has claimed that his client’s move to Liverpool this summer was no mistake, with the player still failing to justify his transfer fee, the Daily
Balotelli cost Liverpool £16m in the summer from Italian side Milan and has failed to register a single league goal whilst bagging just two in other competitions.
The enigmatic striker has come in for heavy criticism from fans and pundits – especially because of his lacklustre attitude and playing style – and this has seen him already linked with an early Anfield departure.
However, agent Mino Raiola has claimed that his move back to the Premier League was not a mistake and says his client will show everyone the star quality that he possesses.
“Was it a mistake for Mario to leave Milan? Decisions have to be judged at the time they’re taken, in the summer it was right to leave Milan, and we’d do it again,” he said.
“Mario went to the best league in the world, and is not doing well at Liverpool for a number of reasons.
“I don’t regret the transfer or Mario leaving Milan.
“We no longer have to speak about his private life, and that’s a big improvement. Balotelli was out for almost 10 weeks with injury, you can’t judge him until he’s at 100 per cent.
“It’s not easy to go abroad and immediately fit into a different environment, but I’m not worried about Balotelli the way the Italian press are.”
Balotelli came off the bench on Saturday to mark his comeback from injury and dropping by Brendan Rodgers – who has opted to play Raheem Sterling up front in recent weeks.
The controversial Italian was also handed a £25,000 fine and one match ban at the end of December because of a post on social media site Instagram that the FA deemed to be racist.
