Arsenal were forced to fight off a late surge from the Seagulls to book their place in the draw for the FA Cup fifth round, reports BBC
The Gunners took the lead within minutes through Theo Walcott, to alleviate any pressure from the home side. Midway through the first-half, the returning Mesut Ozil doubled Arsenal’s advantage with a well-taken low finish from close range.
But after the break, Brighton pulled a goal back through Chris O’Grady, who rifled an effort low past Wojciech Szczesny, who stood little chance due to the precision of the hit.
Tomas Rosicky volleyed Arsenal into a 3-1 lead just minutes after they Londoners had conceded, but Sam Baldock halved the deficit to ensure the last 15 minutes of normal time would be nervy. Arsenal did hold on to secure the win against the Championship strugglers.
