Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho jokes about signing Liverpool’s Steven Gerrard on loan

In the aftermath of Chelsea’s 1-1 draw against Liverpool in the Capital One Cup, manager Jose Mourinho joked that he would sign Steven Gerrard on loan next season, reports BBC Sport.

The long-serving Liverpool captain will be leaving the Merseyside club in the summer to join MLS side LA Galaxy, but could be available on loan before pre-season starts. Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has recently been full of praise for the former England midfielder, and hinted that he’d consider bringing him back to the Premier League in Blues’ colours.

I’m not happy he leaves. I would love the Premier League to keep always the best players. I think he has more than enough quality to play in the Premier League. In spite (of the fact) he’s my opponent, I feel sorry that he’s leaving,” he said. And when asked if he’d convince Gerrard to stay, Mourinho replied: “Or to get him on loan.”
