Chelsea winger Marko Marin has moved to Belgian club Anderlecht on loan for the remainder of the season, the Daily
It is the third loan spell of Marin’s time at Chelsea, having spent the whole of last season at Sevilla and the first half of this campaign in Italy with Fiorentina. He scored twice in 30 appearances for the former and helped them win the Europa League, but in Florence he was given only four outings.
The German has made only six Premier League appearances for his parent club despite becoming Roberto Di Matteo’s first signing when he joined for £7m from Werder Bremen in the summer of 2012. He scored just one goal during that time – against Wigan Athletic in February 2013 – and has never played under current boss Jose Mourinho.
His contract does not run out until 2017, meaning this may not be his last loan spell away from Chelsea. Anderlecht are currently second in the Belgian Pro League and challenging in the Europa League, and on the signing of Marin, general manager Herman von Holsbeeck said: “RSC Anderlecht goes for quality and not quantity.
“The arrival of Marko Marin is a win-win situation for both parties. Here he can play at the highest level and help the purple and white achieve its ambitions.”
