Chelsea playmaker Oscar has reportedly said that striker Diego Costa needs to improve if his side are to claim this season’s Premier League title, according to the Daily
Costa cost the Blues £32m in the summer following an incredible season with Atletico Madrid that saw him score 36 goals in just 52 games – also battling a persistent hamstring problem during that time.
This season saw the Spaniard start with a bang and he is currently the league’s top goal scorer with 15 goals from their 21 league games so far.
Oscar was the man who set up the striker to score during their 2-0 victory over Newcastle at the weekend but the Brazilian is still demanding more of his team mate – despite the impressive statistics.
He said: “Diego is a fantastic player. This season he has helped Chelsea so much and scored so many goals.
“But we need Diego to play better every game because now Manchester City is second, just two points behind.”
Costa had endured a dry spell of just two league goals in seven over the course of November and December but has put that right with three in his last four games.
With that being said, the forward is without a goal in his five appearances for the Blues in the Champions League this season.
