Former Everton and Manchester United manager David Moyes has opened the door for Liverpool’s departing legend Steven Gerrard to switch the Premier League for La Liga, the Daily
Moyes is currently rebuilding his reputation with Spanish side Real Sociedad and spent his Christmas searching for improvements for the struggling Spaniards.
Gerrard announced he will finally be leaving Liverpool after only ever playing for the club throughout his entire 27 year career since signing on their youth books back in 1987.
And Moyes has offered Gerrard the opportunity to move to Spain instead of widely expected America if does not want to give up European football just yet.
The Scotsman’s praise came ahead of his side’s clash with giants Barcelona with La Liga set to return this weekend from its Christmas break – something Moyes has enjoyed.
He said: “He has had a great career for his club and for England and he will be very difficult to replace. If he ever wanted to come to play in Spain he knows he can phone me.
“It was nice to have Christmas dinner with my family. That is not always possible as a Premier League manager. I have not had a Christmas off for what must be 25 years. But I also went to games and I spoke to a lot of football people back home and asked a lot of questions about players and availability.”
It remains to be seen if Gerrard will resist the draw of a big money move to the likes of LA Galaxy – who are reportedly offering a contract of up to £20m earnings.
