Dragovic ready for Man Utd after Arsenal opt for Paulista

Aleksandar Dragovic is said to be nearing a switch to Manchester United after Arsenal turned their attentions to Villarreal’s Gabriel Paulista instead, the Daily Express has reported.

The Gunners are on the verge of completing their move for Brazilian centre half Paulista having identified him as the man they want over Dragovic.

Many reports had linked the Austria international with a move to the Emirates Stadium but this has not stopped United preparing a move for the defender.

The 23-year-old has been growing from strength to strength with current club Dynamo Kyev having joined back in 2013 from Swiss side FC Basel.

And now Louis van Gaal is prepared to make a £15m move for the 35 time Austrian international as he looks to sure up a United defence that is still failing to impress.

Other reported targets include Mats Hummels and Nicolas Otamendi but Van Gaal is said to prefer the age and value of Dragovic.

While the squad at Old Trafford is finally nearing a clean bill of health – at one point Michael Carrick was deployed as an emergency centre back – United still look incredibly vulnerable and Van Gaal is keen to address this.
