Everton ask Real Madrid for forward Jese

Everton have asked Real Madrid about the chances of taking young forward Jese Rodriguez on loan for the rest of the season, Football Espana reports.

It’s believed that Toffees manager Roberto Martinez has enquired into the availability of 21-year-old as he looks to bolster his squad for the remainder of the campaign, having let Samuel Eto’o move to Sampdoria on a free transfer only six months after he signed on at Goodison Park.

Jese is thought to be in need of regular playing time as he recovers from a serious cruciate ligament injury suffered in March last year that prevented his return until December. He has featured only sporadically since, making seven appearances and scoring once for Los Blancos.

Everton are likely to be disappointed in their pursuit, however, as Madrid Coach Carlo Ancelotti views Jese as back-up to his regular attacking trio, Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo. Ancelotti and Madrid will discuss the offer but the feeling is the former Chelsea boss would prefer to keep Jese at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Jese has made 31 appearances for Madrid’s senior side, scoring six goals, with most of his game-time coming as a substitute. Prior to his injury last year, Jese featured 23 times in all competitions.
