The 33-year-old spent the last 18 months in the Premier League for Chelsea and Everton respectively, but was rumoured to be exiting last month, with reports suggesting he wanted to be closer to his family, who reside in Italy.
Sampdoria are looking to strengthen their bid for a top-four place in the Serie A this season, and feel the ageing striker will be perfect for the slow-paced division. The Italian club are currently fourth in the table, and want to ensure they have option in attack to get them over the line.
Eto’o scored four goals in all competitions for Everton since moving from Chelsea in the summer, and tweeted: “Successful medical. Ready for a new challenge!!!” on Sunday.
