With his contract at Newcastle United terminated French winger Hatem Ben Arfa has completed his move to French side Nice, the BBC
Ben Arfa had joined Hull on loan at the beginning of the season but the deal didn’t work out – before both clubs stated his services would not be required by them come January.
The player had already returned to France by the time Newcastle had terminated his contract and the winger has subsequently opted to join Ligue 1 side Nice, who sit in 11th place currently.
Ben Arfa returns to his native country four and a half years after leaving for St James’ Park where he show cased only glimpses of the serious talent he possesses.
In total he made 76 league appearances for the Magpies before his Hull switch and consequently his arrival in Nice.
The Frenchman has expressed his delight at being able to play for the club – stating that in his homeland he now feels he won’t be judged by the media as he was in England.
He said: “I spoke to the coach [Claude Puel], I liked his integrity and his approach to football and within 10 minutes, my choice was made.
“There are people here who trust me, who do not judge me as some people want to judge me through the press.”
