Strugglers Leicester City earned a place in the fourth round of the FA Cup after beating Newcastle 1-0 at the King Power Stadium, reports BBC
Despite a place in the prestigious cup at stake, chances were at a premium. Newcastle had just two chances in the entire 90 minutes, but victors Leicester had only three. The game was bereft of quality, so it was always going to be a singular moment that would decide the affair, and the Foxes made sure it was from them.
Summer-signing Leonardo Ulloa headed home from an Anthony Knockaert cross minutes before the break to put Leicester City ahead. Currently bottom of the Premier League table, Nigel Pearson’s side are enjoying a recent upturn in form, and were doing a good job of keeping Newcastle quiet.
A turgid second-half saw City came away as the winners, booking their place in the next round of the FA Cup.
