Leicester vs Stoke – Premier League preview and team news

Leicester City will be looking for a third win in four Premier League games when they host Stoke City, and they could escape the bottom three if other results go their way.

The upturn in form that the Foxes have shown since midway through the festive period has been highly promising, as manager Nigel Pearson has now helped his players rediscover the type of form which saw them win the Championship by such an enormous margin last season.

A dominant performance against Aston Villa should have resulted in a more comfortable victory than the 1-0 scoreline suggests, but they will take momentum from that display into this game as they attempt to secure a league double over their more established opponents.

Stoke will feel that they must produce a performance following their dismal showing at Arsenal on Sunday, where a slow start cost them any chance of coming away with anything from North London and moving into the top half of the Premier League.

Debutant Philipp Wollscheid was given a tough time in defence by Olivier Giroud and an inspired Alexis Sanchez, but was afforded little protection. Manager Mark Hughes will demand a response, and they certainly possess the quality to come away with the win here.

Matt James begins a three-match ban for Leicester after his sending off against Villa. Esteban Cambiasso, Riyad Mahrez, Jeffrey Schlupp and Kasper Schmeichel are among the other players missing.

Peter Odemwingie is still out for Stoke, but they are hopeful over the fitness of Steven N’Zonzi, Erik Pieters and Marc Wilson.
