Liverpool, Tottenham and Man City monitoring Southampton striker Rodriguez

Southampton striker Jay Rodriguez is said to be attracting interest from Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City as he gets near making a return from a long-term injury, ESPN has reported.

Rodriguez is expected to be back in action by the end of February, a year after suffering a cruciate knee ligament injury that ruled the England international out of the World Cup, the rest of the Premier League season and the start of the current campaign.

Southampton have offered a new deal to the former Burnley forward and it’s expected he will remain at the club past the close of the transfer window having not played since April. Rodriguez suffered the injury in Southampton’s 4-1 defeat against City and to that point had played 39 games for the Saints in all competitions, scoring 17 goals, having netted nine in 37 the season before.

Rodriguez cost Southampton £6m when moving in 2012 from the Clarets, for whom he scored 41 goals in 128 games after coming through the youth set-up at Turf Moor.
