Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is looking to retain defender Glen Johnson and midfielder Lucas Leiva, with the Merseyside club already losing an experienced player in Steven Gerrard, reports
Liverpool right-back Glen Johnson still hasn’t signed a deal to keep him with the club past the summer, and teammate Lucas Leiva has also been tipped for an exit at the end of the season, but manager Brendan Rodgers wants to keep the two players at the club to help bed in the young players.
“The intention will be to keep everyone – we can’t have three or four leaving next season. Steven will obviously be a loss. But for the younger players to develop their potential they are going to need that seniority around them. You can’t just have a whole group of young players. I am hopeful we can find a solution and (Glen) will stay. We want to keep Lucas too,” said the Reds manager.
