With Liverpool facing Chelsea in the Capital One Cup semi-final this evening, manager Brendan Rodgers insists he’s not looking to just get one over his old employers, reports Sky
Rodgers worked with Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho in the latter’s first stint at the club a decade ago. Since then, the two men have gone in different directions in their career, but renewed acquaintances as rivals managers in the title race in the last 18 months. But Rodgers has insisted such rivalry isn’t playing on his mind in tonight’s Capital One Cup semi-final first leg.
“I have never really seen it as a direct match-up against the other manager because there are so many things that can dictate that. For me it is just about winning the game, regardless of the manager,” he said.
