Liverpool’s long-serving midfielder Steve Gerrard has confirmed he will be leaving the Merseyside club at the end of the season, reports BBC
The club-captain, 34, is five games short of 700 appearances for the Reds, joining the club as a nine year old. He admitted how difficult a decision it is been for him and his family, while further revealing he won’t be joining another Premier League side. The MLS has been suggested as a potential destination for the former England international.
This has been the toughest decision of my life. I won’t be playing for a competing club and will not therefore be lining up against Liverpool. My decision is completely based on my wish to experience something different in my career. I want no regrets when my playing career is over. I will be as fully committed to the team until the end of the season, and will be giving everything to help Liverpool win games,” he said.
